Have you ever wondered what goes on inside an admissions office, when your application is being reviewed? During this casual conversation with admissions officers from FSU and American University, we will highlight the process of reading an application and identify what admissions officers focus on the most.

This program is appropriate for parents of college-bound high school students in all grades (9-12) AND their loving children!! See below for specific topics we'll be covering.

You'll Learn:

We'll discuss:
  • What Admissions Officers Look For In A Student's Application - The 'pitfalls' of a blatantly padded resume that sends an applicant to the reject pile vs. a compelling and contextually relevant story that moves the needle from 'maybe' to yes
  • How to qualify for big, 5-figure merit scholarships at private universities
  • Whether applicants can improve their admissions chances by "demonstrating interest" in specific colleges
  • Is it easier to gain entry if you apply to summer term vs. fall term?
  • The advantages or disadvantages of declaring a specific major on the application, or whether applying "Undecided" is OK
  • Whether there is a "best time" to submit your application, as well as the boost you might get by applying EA vs. ED vs. RD
  • More!
